Synopsis
The second installment in Guy Gavriel Kay's Fionavar Tapestry trilogy, published in 1986, picks up roughly six months after the first novel, as an unnatural winter grips Fionavar. Kim, who has gained new magical abilities, Jennifer, marked by what she suffered at the hands of the dark lord Rakoth Maugrim, and Paul navigate escalating conflicts alongside Diarmuid and Dave, while the narrative moves between Fionavar and sites in our own world such as Stonehenge and Glastonbury Tor. The group works toward summoning legendary figures from Arthurian legend to aid their cause, even as Jennifer's half-magical child, Darien, grows at an unnatural rate and struggles with a divided heritage that leaves him uncertain where his loyalties lie, all set against the rising threat of Maugrim's forces.
