Synopsis
The Witchwood Crown, opening the Last King of Osten Ard sequence, is set more than three decades after the events of the original trilogy, with Simon and Miriamele now ruling as king and queen over a realm that appears at peace but is beginning to show cracks. Old companions have grown distant, faded, or fallen to darker influences, and divisions within the kingdom threaten the unity their rule was built on. Most alarmingly, the Norns, the ancient and immortal people believed defeated at the end of the earlier war, are stirring again in the north, beginning to mobilize toward reclaiming lands that humans have held since their downfall, setting the stage for a new conflict to grow out of the peace the previous generation fought so hard to win.
