Synopsis

The Wizard Hunters opens The Fall of Ile-Rien trilogy in an early twentieth-century version of the kingdom, now facing devastating invasion by the Gardier, an enemy whose storm-black airships and unknown weapons render Ile-Rien's traditional sorcery useless. Tremaine Valiarde, a young playwright without any magical ability of her own, becomes an unlikely focus of hope when she inherits a mysterious sphere left behind by her late sorcerer uncle Arisilde. Attempting to unlock its secrets, Tremaine is unexpectedly transported through the sphere to an unfamiliar world whose magic cultures lag far behind Ile-Rien's sophisticated Craft, populated by warriors, wary wizards, and worse dangers. Stranded among strangers who have no reason to trust her, she must find a way to understand the sphere's power before an ancient evil in this new world fully awakens and before the Gardier complete their conquest of her own.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
