Synopsis
The Ships of Air continues The Fall of Ile-Rien trilogy after the fall of Ile-Rien itself to the sorcerous Gardier invaders. Tremaine Valiarde, having returned from the world beyond her uncle's sphere, now leads a desperate effort to rescue the grand ship Queen Ravenna from destruction and to gather a crew of soldiers, refugees, and magic-users willing to sail beyond the boundaries of the known world. Their goal is to find allies or a weapon capable of turning back the Gardier before Ile-Rien is lost for good, a voyage that takes them through unfamiliar and hazardous waters far from home. As the expedition presses on, the travelers discover that an ancient terror has stowed away aboard their own vessel, a threat that may prove even more dangerous than the enemy they set out to fight, testing the loyalty and courage of everyone aboard.
