Synopsis
The third book of the Deptford Histories reveals the past of the old midshipmouse Thomas Triton of the original trilogy, the dark secret he was always keeping back until it emerged that he was somehow responsible for the death of his best friend, Woodget. Young Thomas and Woodget go to sea, sail with a simple-minded young mouse called Dimlon whom they befriend on the voyage, and are drawn into a perilous journey in which they are pursued by an enraged high priest, in a dark adventure that the author wrote, he has said, to explore the character's hidden past.
