Synopsis
Kashtar, ruler of the pirate city-state of Tarakus, joins forces with a wizard who has dabbled in the forbidden secrets of lost Nianga. Their weapon is a ray that drives its victims mad. Kashtar means to use it to conquer Lemuria and to keep his realm from being swallowed by Patanga, the growing empire of the barbarian conqueror Thongor. Thongor must find a way to meet the threat to his empire and to the cities that depend on it, before the ray can be turned against his armies and his people.
