Synopsis

Throne of Glass introduces Celaena Sardothien, an eighteen-year-old assassin who has spent the past year enslaved in the brutal work camp of Endovier as punishment for her crimes. She is given an unexpected chance at freedom when Crown Prince Dorian Havilliard has her brought to the royal court of Adarlan to compete against other convicted killers and thieves for the position of King's Champion, the monarch's personal enforcer. Training alongside the Captain of the Guard, Chaol Westfall, and drawn into an uneasy rivalry and attraction with both Dorian and Chaol, Celaena must fight to win the brutal competition while a series of mysterious deaths begin to plague the competitors. As she investigates the killings, she uncovers hints of something ancient and dangerous stirring beneath the castle, tied to secrets about her own hidden past.

Notes

  • From the series record (Throne of Glass): Tower of Dawn is an interquel running concurrently with events late in Empire of Storms/before Kingdom of Ash, hence internal chronology 5.5 rather than a plain integer, following a companion-volume convention already used elsewhere in this canon.

Neighbouring works

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.

  • Reading order, within the series Throne of Glass: position 1 of 7: next Crown of Midnight (2013)
