Synopsis

The fourth book in the Iron Druid Chronicles opens with Atticus O'Sullivan striking a bargain with the trickster god Coyote to help him fake his own death. The staged demise is meant to give Atticus and his apprentice Granuaile room to train without interference from a Norse pantheon still angry over his previous exploits. The plan quickly proves more complicated than expected: Atticus has to contend with dangerous supernatural threats lurking in the Arizona desert, including Garm, the persistent hound of the underworld goddess Hel, and he discovers that faking his death has not made him safe from those who wish him harm, forcing him to navigate the fallout of his own disappearance while protecting the people closest to him.
