Synopsis

When Sorrows Come is the fifteenth novel in the October Daye series. Toby finally travels to marry Tybalt, the King of Cats, after her friends arrange a wedding at the High Court in Toronto without waiting for her full consent, and the event spirals into danger almost immediately when a doppelganger attempts to assassinate one of the attendees, exposing a larger conspiracy at the gathering. At its center is Absalom Shallcross, a figure whose infiltration of the Westlands' ruling houses stretches back centuries and who is working to exploit a legal loophole in the Westlands' founding charter to overthrow the High Throne. As further assassination attempts unfold around her, Toby must investigate the plot, protect the High King from poisoning and sabotage, and uncover the hidden identities involved, all while still trying to reach her own wedding ceremony.
