Synopsis
Set in the Newford universe, this novel centers on longtime series figure Jilly Coppercorn as she is drawn into overlapping supernatural conflicts. Tension is already running high between fairies and the shapeshifting 'cousins,' the original inhabitants of the Americas, after a vengeful fairy named Odawa hires bogans to hunt down Grey, a cousin who blinded him years earlier. When the bogans mistakenly target an innocent woman named Lizzie, she is pulled into Jilly's orbit. The central crisis unfolds when Jilly and Lizzie are transported into Jilly's croi baile, a private pocket of the otherworld made from people and places Jilly unknowingly created out of her own past, forcing her to face old traumas even as her friend Geordie becomes trapped there too. Their personal reckoning unfolds against a wider brewing war between the fairy and cousin factions.
