Synopsis
In Newford, several lives converge around a supernatural crisis rooted in the Gentry, ancient Irish fairy-folk displaced to North America, who find themselves without a true home in a land already claimed by native manitou spirits. Increasingly desperate, the Gentry plot to summon a Green Man to help them fight for territory against these indigenous spirits. Their scheme entangles Bettina San Miguel, a healer with mystical Spanish-American heritage who can perceive the hidden world; Ellie Jones, a sculptor commissioned to recreate an ancient Celtic mask; Tommy Raven, a man tied to the spirit world; and Hunter Cole, a skeptical record-store owner drawn in despite himself. The novel blends Celtic, Native American, and Spanish-American folklore as these very different traditions clash and intertwine on modern city streets, with a young man named Donal Greer becoming central to the Gentry's dangerous plans.
