Synopsis
Concluding the Dark Legacy of Shannara trilogy roughly a century after the events of Straken, the novel is set amid a widening breach in the Forbidding, the barrier that contains dangerous supernatural forces within the Four Lands. The sisters Arling and Aphenglow Elessedil work urgently to repair the breach before it can be exploited, while Railing Ohmsford, whose twin brother Redden is trapped inside the Forbidding, seeks to bring back Grianne, the former Ilse Witch, believing she alone may be able to help free him from the realm's ruler, the Straken Lord Tael Riverine. As the sisters race against the failing barrier and Railing pursues his desperate rescue plan, the fate of the Four Lands' defenses against the demon realm hangs on whether these separate efforts can succeed in time.
