Synopsis
In Queen Victoria's London the Onyx Hall is dying: the Underground railway being cut through the city's foundations is tearing the faerie palace apart, and what is left of it has fallen under the rule of the Goblin Market, a criminal underworld of fae who trade in mortal goods and mortal lives. Eliza O'Malley, an Irish woman from Whitechapel, has spent seven years searching for her childhood friend Owen, stolen by the faeries; her hunt leads her toward the Market's gangster Nadrett and his slave Dead Rick, a skriker, a dog-shaped fae whose memories Nadrett has stolen, and who wants them back as badly as Eliza wants Owen. Among the working poor, the factories and the Fenian bombers of the 1880s, the last novel of the series follows the two of them toward the Onyx Court's end, three centuries after Invidiana's pact.
