Synopsis
A botched spell cast by the well-meaning but inept court wizard Questor Thews accidentally transports the canine scribe Abernathy back to Ben Holiday's old world of Chicago, taking the kingdom's royal medallion of office along with him, while in Landover a strange bottle appears in Abernathy's place containing a dangerous magical creature that quickly escapes into the countryside. Trapped on Earth without his medallion, Abernathy must survive in an unfamiliar modern city while Ben, Questor, and their companions in Landover try to track and contain the threat that has been unleashed at home. The two crises unfold on parallel tracks, forcing Ben Holiday and his makeshift court to navigate both worlds at once to rescue their friend and undo the damage of Questor's mistake.
