Synopsis
Words of Radiance continues directly from The Way of Kings on the world of Roshar, with the storylines converging on the war-torn Shattered Plains. Kaladin has become a royal bodyguard while secretly training as a Windrunner and forming a bond with a spren named Syl, wrestling with his resentment toward the ruling lighteyes class. Shallan, traveling to join the scholar Jasnah Kholin, discovers unexpected powers of her own and a companion in a spren called Pattern. Dalinar Kholin presses forward with his effort to unite the fractured highprinces and revive the Knights Radiant, while his son Adolin fights ritual duels to win Shards for the family's cause. As unsettling signs multiply, including strange transformations spreading among the Alethi's Parshendi enemies, the approach of a prophesied storm known as the Everstorm suggests that old enemies once thought defeated may be returning.
