Synopsis
Oathbringer opens shortly after the events of Words of Radiance, with Dalinar Kholin and his allies newly settled in the ancient tower fortress of Urithiru. Dalinar experiences unsettling visions warning of an approaching cataclysm called the Everstorm, even as fragments of his own painful past resurface and threaten to undermine his authority. Kaladin investigates the growing numbers of transformed parshmen, feared as the returning Voidbringers, bonded with strange spren and marching toward Alethkar's capital, while Shallan, haunted by buried childhood memories, works to secure alliances and looks into unexplained deaths. As Dalinar tries to unite Roshar's fractured kingdoms against the looming threat of the god-like being Odium and his forces, the Knights Radiant, including the assassin Szeth, must decide how far they are willing to go, and what alliances they are willing to make, to keep Roshar from falling.
