Synopsis
Yendi picks up the Vlad Taltos series after Vlad has secured control of a neighborhood territory for the Jhereg organization, narrated from a point earlier in his life than the previous volume. Six months into running his patch, Vlad finds himself in a costly turf war with a rival boss named Laris, as killings and betrayals escalate around him. Sensing that the violence is more than an ordinary gang dispute, Vlad suspects it conceals a larger scheme tied to succession politics within House Dragon and to ambitions inside the Empire itself. He is aided by his powerful friends Morrolan and Aliera, and grows close to Cawti, a fellow Easterner and assassin who becomes his ally.
