Overview
Crowns of Nyaxia is Carissa Broadbent's romantic-fantasy vampire series, set across the warring vampire Houses of the world of Nyaxia, where mortals are kept as a subjugated underclass and political power is contested through ritual combat and shifting alliances between Houses. It is structured as three linked duologies -- Nightborn, Shadowborn, and Bloodborn -- each following a different pair of protagonists while sharing one continuous world, timeline, and history, so that characters and consequences from earlier books recur in later ones. The series began as a self-published novel, The Serpent and the Wings of Night (2022), before being picked up and re-released by Tor, with subsequent volumes following through 2026. Broadbent builds the series around a caste system of vampire Houses distinguished by different supernatural specialties, and the books combine court intrigue and enemies-to-lovers romance with a broader mythology involving Nyaxia's gods and the mortal world beyond the vampire Houses' territory.
