Overview
Kalfukura. El corazón de la tierra is a young-adult fantasy novel by the Chilean author Jorge Baradit, published by Ediciones B in 2009 and presented in October of that year. A poor boy from the highlands, Leonardo Caspana, travels the length of Chile to find a hidden treasure, the Heart of the Earth, in the middle of a magical war between European alchemists and American shamans. The novel draws on Chilean and indigenous myth, including the Caleuche. Baradit has said he wanted to revive these myths and take them out of the museum. It is a single self-contained book, unrelated to his science-fiction novels.
