Overview
Moribito is Nahoko Uehashi's Japanese-language fantasy series, translated into English by Cathy Hirano, following Balsa, a veteran spear-wielding bodyguard, as she protects a young prince who unknowingly carries the egg of a water spirit. Of the ten Japanese novels published between 1996 and 2018, only the first two have appeared in English translation; both won a national U.S. award for translated children's literature. The remaining eight are left out of this admission for now, since no confirmed English edition exists to catalogue against.
