Overview
The Angel of Losses is a standalone fantasy novel by Stephanie Feldman, her debut, published by Ecco/HarperCollins in 2014. Marjorie Burke, a graduate student, is estranged from her younger sister Holly, who has become Orthodox Jewish, married and is pregnant. After their grandfather Eli dies, Marjorie finds a notebook of his stories about the White Rebbe, a wizard-like figure, and a sinister Angel of Losses. Her search for more notebooks leads through Jewish folklore, the legend of the Wandering Jew and her grandfather's past in wartime Europe. The story mixes a contemporary New York family drama with mythic episodes. It has no sequels.
