Overview

C.S. Lewis's last novel, published in 1956, retells the myth of Cupid and Psyche through the eyes of Psyche's elder sister, Orual, princess and later queen of Glome, a small pagan kingdom on the edge of the Greek world. Written as Orual's lifelong complaint against the gods, it follows her fierce, possessive love for her beautiful half-sister and what becomes of it when Psyche is given as a sacrifice to the god of the Grey Mountain.
