Overview
A 2022 historical fantasy novel by Sacha Lamb set in a small Eastern European shtetl in the early twentieth century before following its characters to Warsaw, Ellis Island and New York's Lower East Side. Blending magical realism with immigration history and Yiddish literary tradition, the novel explores gender identity, sexuality and diaspora community, and won the 2023 Stonewall Book Award's Mike Morgan & Larry Romans Children's & Young Adult Literature Award.
