Barbara Campbell is an American writer born in Wilmington, Delaware, the youngest of three daughters. She began writing at nine, when she typed her first story, "Cherokee the Wild Pinto", on a toy typewriter. Her early works included a Revolutionary War romance, Three's a Crowd, and an unfinished World War II epic, Claudine. She then turned to acting through high school and college and graduated from Bucknell University. After two years in educational administration she pursued acting full-time and was accepted into the Lehman Engel-BMI Musical Theatre Workshop in New York City, where she met Gary Schocker; together they wrote songs, a cantata and two full-length musicals. She later worked in various jobs before becoming a grant writer and publications consultant in the not-for-profit sector. Her Trickster's Game trilogy (Heartwood, Bloodstone, Foxfire) was published by DAW Books from 2005 to 2009.
