Olivia Atwater is a fantasy author who was first inspired to write through a Dungeons & Dragons campaign led by her father, submitting her first novel manuscript to a publisher at age twelve. She holds a degree in technical writing and editing, and before becoming a full-time novelist she worked variously as a web developer, historical re-enactor, repairperson, and salesperson. She self-published her debut novel in 2020 after researching independent publishing on a friend's recommendation. Atwater is best known for the Regency Faerie Tales trilogy, beginning with Half a Soul (2020), a Regency-era fantasy romance drawing on British folklore, followed by Ten Thousand Stitches (2020) and Longshadow (2021), along with several companion novellas. She also wrote the standalone Small Miracles (2022), described as an homage to Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, blending celestial and infernal bureaucracy with small-town charm. Her Regency Faerie Tales trilogy received praise from Publishers Weekly, The British Fantasy Society, Tor.com, Booklist, and Library Journal, and Small Miracles won the eighth Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off competition, a notable achievement for independently published fantasy fiction. Beyond her novels, she has written nonfiction guides on independent publishing. Atwater lives in Montreal, Quebec, with her husband Nicholas Atwater and two cats.
