Polly Shulman writes widely on science, history and culture for publications including The New York Times and Scientific American, and has edited science news for Science magazine. She grew up in New York City, studied mathematics at Yale, and lives in the city with her husband and their parakeet. Her young adult novel Enthusiasm preceded the Grimm Legacy series, which is set in a library that lends objects instead of books. The series includes The Grimm Legacy (2010), The Wells Bequest (2013) and The Poe Estate (2015), each of which follows a new group of young pages working at the New-York Circulating Material Repository.
