Ryan Cahill is an Irish author, born and raised in Ireland and now residing in New Zealand, who began writing in early 2020 while working in a chemistry lab in Dublin. He deliberately chose to self-publish rather than pursue a traditional agent or publisher, releasing the first book in his epic fantasy series The Bound and the Broken in March 2021. Since then he has written multiple novels, novellas, and short stories in that series, totaling around 1.5 million words as of mid-2025, and the series has sold over half a million copies worldwide and been translated into multiple languages. In late 2024, print rights to the series were acquired by The Broken Binding Publishing, with physical re-releases scheduled to begin in February 2026.
