Tone Almhjell is a Norwegian writer who grew up, then, in her own words, quickly un-grew up, and in a fit of bravery quit her job as a journalist to become a fantasy writer. She holds a Master of Science Fiction from the University of Liverpool and lives in Oslo with her two wonderfully stubborn children. Her debut, The Twistrose Key (2013), written in English and illustrated by Ian Schoenherr, received a starred review from Kirkus, which called it fantasy that evokes the classics of yore and stands proudly among them, and was followed by the companion novel Thornghost (2016). In Norwegian she has published Den svartkledde prinsessen og den sjuende natta (2014), and her stories have been collected in Nordic Visions.
