Synopsis
After the death of the witch Gingema, her former assistant, the carpenter Urfin Dzhyus, claims to be her heir in magic. The people around him fear him, but he has no real power and lives alone. A storm brings him the seeds of a hardy, unusual plant, and he turns its dried remains into a powder that makes objects come alive. He uses it to carve and animate an army of wooden soldiers and sets out to conquer the Blue Country. The land's people and their old friends, including Elli's companions from the Emerald City, have to find a way to stop him before his plan reaches the Emerald City itself.
