Synopsis
Deep below the Magic Land lies a kingdom of underground miners that is ruled by seven brothers who share one throne, each reigning for a single month. The other six sleep through their turns, kept in that state by a sleep-inducing water, and the arrangement has lasted for centuries. When an unexpected event upsets the balance, characters from the Emerald City become drawn into the underground world and its politics. The novel first appeared in 1964 in the magazine Nauka i zhizn, and it is the third book of the series.
