Synopsis
The second installment of the Camelot Years finds Camelot's throne seized by a false ruler known as the Lion, who has sentenced Tedros to death and forced Sophie into marriage while Agatha narrowly escapes capture. The usurper is eventually revealed to be Japeth, working in tandem with his brother Rhian, two previously unknown siblings from Foxwood who share an uncanny resemblance; Japeth operates in secret as the Snake while Rhian presents himself publicly as the legitimate king. The brothers wield blood magic and enchanted scims to hold power. Most of the School's students remain imprisoned in Camelot's dungeons, Sophie is held in the castle and forced to write propaganda in service of the new regime, and Agatha must escape to rally the wider School for Good and Evil behind a rescue effort.
