Synopsis

A Dance with Fate, the second book of the Warrior Bards trilogy, picks up with Liobhan back on Swan Island for advanced training after the loss of her brother to the Otherworld in the previous volume. During a training exercise she accidentally injures her comrade Dau, and in taking responsibility for the harm she becomes a bond servant for a year at Oakhill, Dau's family estate. There the two uncover troubling secrets within the household and find themselves threatened by the Crow Folk, supernatural beings whose presence endangers both the human world and the Otherworld. As Liobhan and Dau dig into the corruption they find at the heart of Oakhill, their investigation places them in real danger, drawing on both their warrior training and abilities that go beyond ordinary combat.

Notes

  • From the series record (Warrior Bards): Marillier's most recent completed trilogy, set in early-medieval Erin (Ireland) -- a separate world/cast from Sevenwaters despite the shared broad setting-region, per independent research (no crossover characters or continuity link found).
