Synopsis

In the world of Caladmiron, where nature itself has a soul and elves, fairies, dwarves and gnomes stand together against the dark, a young girl discovers that she is not what she believed herself to be: Iruvienne, daughter of Galaduinne, belongs to two worlds, and a destiny awaits her among the Lands of Light, the realm of the People of Light. Her journey there, across a landscape described with the lushness of a lost paradise, brings her to the elf Edínmtor, whom she comes to love, and to the throne she was born to claim. Behind the beauty of the Lands lies the threat of Morgriff, the power of darkness against which the Lands must be defended, and the Sceptre of Aerzis that gives the trilogy its name. The first novel of a trilogy its author began at fifteen.

Notes

  • From the series record (O Ceptro de Aerzis): Inês Botelho's Portuguese epic fantasy trilogy of Caladmiron and the Lands of Light, where elves, fairies, dwarves and gnomes defend a living nature against the darkness of Morgriff, and of Iruvienne, daughter of two worlds, who becomes their queen. Begun when the author was fifteen; a landmark of the 2000s wave of Portuguese fantasy.
