Synopsis

A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire continues directly from the first novel: everything Poppy believed about her world, her role as the Maiden, and the man she was falling for turns out to rest on falsehoods she is only beginning to uncover. Removed from the life she knew and delivered among people who see her only as a symbol of a kingdom they consider monstrous, Poppy must navigate deep suspicion and hostility while deciding how far to trust Prince Casteel Da'Neer, whose own motives remain difficult to read. Their uneasy alliance becomes a search for her missing brother, a search that pulls both of them into simmering political intrigue between kingdoms with a long, bloody history, forcing Poppy to reassess who her real allies are as the wider conflict around her sharpens.

Notes

  • From the series record (Blood and Ash): The main five-book arc, following Poppy, the sheltered Maiden of an isolated kingdom, as she uncovers a bloodline that makes her the target of gods, kings, and monsters. Its own five-book story closes with A Soul of Ash and Blood.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
