Synopsis

A Light in the Flame picks up the Flesh and Fire duology after the truth of Seraphena Mierel's original mission has come to light, leaving her surrounded by a court that no longer trusts her and a Primal she was sent to deceive. With her former assassin's purpose exposed and her sense of belonging in the Shadowlands badly shaken, Sera clings to what duty remains to her, choosing to work alongside Nyktos, the Primal of Death, rather than retreat from the danger she helped create. Their uneasy partnership becomes an effort to confront a tyrannical false King of the Gods whose rule threatens both mortal and primal realms, forcing Sera to decide what she is willing to risk, and whom she is willing to trust, now that her secrets are no longer hers to keep.

Notes

  • From the series record (Flesh and Fire): A prequel series set generations before the main arc, following Seraphena, a maiden destined to seduce and destroy the Primal of Death; still being published as of 2026, with further volumes expected to connect the two series' timelines.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
