Synopsis
A Local Habitation is the second novel in the October Daye series, picking up as changeling knight Toby Daye is sent by her liege lord, Duke Sylvester Torquill, to check on his niece January O'Leary, who has gone unreachable. January runs a technology company called ALH Computing in the County of Tamed Lightning, a small fae domain that also serves as a buffer zone protecting Sylvester's lands from a rival duchy's ambitions. Arriving with her young companion Quentin, Toby finds Tamed Lightning strangely cut off from the rest of Faerie and discovers that several of January's employees have died under circumstances that seem connected to her operation.
