Synopsis

The realm descends further into chaos in A Man Betrayed after Prince Kylock seizes power through his father's death, and multiple storylines converge as rival factions clash in the resulting turmoil across the Four Kingdoms. Jack, still coming to terms with the extraordinary and uncontrolled magical abilities that forced him to flee Castle Harvell, discovers new depths to his power as he is pulled deeper into events shaping the wider war. Melliandra, meanwhile, is captured by human traffickers but refuses to accept her captivity quietly, working to find a way to escape and reclaim her own fate, while the disgraced knight Tawl struggles against his own troubled past in an effort to become the protector the moment now demands. All roads increasingly lead toward the coastal city of Bren, where the ambitions of Chancellor Baralis and Lord Maybor draw the kingdom's scattered players into a single, gathering storm.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
