Synopsis
Set in an Edwardian England where magic operates through contracts and hidden institutions, A Marvellous Light follows civil servant Robin Blyth, who is mistakenly appointed as liaison to a secretive magical society after a clerical mix-up leaves him thrust into a world he never knew existed. Paired against his will with Edwin Courcey, a cold and prickly bureaucrat from within that society, Robin must quickly learn the basics of a magical bureaucracy that expects him to already understand its rules, all while a dangerous curse left behind by his predecessor begins to threaten his safety. As Robin and Edwin are forced into uneasy cooperation to investigate the curse's origins, their initial friction gives way to a partnership neither entirely anticipated, set against a backdrop of magical conspiracy reaching into the society's own ranks.
