Synopsis

A Red-Rose Chain is the ninth novel in the October Daye series. It opens as the Kingdom of Silences declares war on the Kingdom of the Mists after one of its agents strikes Queen Arden Windermere's seneschal with an elf-shot arrow, and as punishment for an earlier transgression, Arden assigns Toby to lead a diplomatic mission meant to head off the conflict. Toby sets out for Portland, Oregon with a small team that includes her partner Tybalt, her squire Quentin, her Fetch May, and Walther Davies, an alchemist originally from Silences, and on arrival discovers that King Rhys of Silences has allied himself with a false claimant to the throne of the Mists, his own lover.

Notes

  • From the series record (October Daye): Long-running urban fantasy series; the main novel sequence only. Distinct from McGuire's Wayward Children. Numerous companion novellas/short stories exist and were not researched.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
