Synopsis
A Soul of Ash and Blood opens with a shift in the balance of power across the realms, as the woman once known as the Queen of Flesh and Fire comes into her full nature as the true Primal of Life and Death. The war she and Casteel have been building toward is only just beginning in earnest, even as this new primal power reshapes what is possible and what is at stake for both of them. When Poppy falls into a dangerous stasis brought on by the strain of her transformation, Casteel is left to grapple with what she is becoming and what it will mean for their future together, while the wider conflict against the Blood Crown continues to close in around them both.
