Synopsis
A strange lunacy has gripped Viriconium: its people are losing interest in their own survival, and nobody can explain why. The reason is an invasion of intelligent, locust-like insects whose way of perceiving the universe is radically unlike humanity's, brought to Earth long ago by a lost astronaut and now threatening to remake the world in their image. The city's defenders set out to confront the threat in a quest that is as much a search for identity as a war, and the competing ways of seeing reality fight for supremacy over the city itself.
