Synopsis

Several young rulers have come to their thrones too early, and their nations are unstable. When Norsunder, a mysterious kingdom of dark magic that was thought to be legend, begins to stir and unsettle the world again, the rulers must set aside personal grudges and inexperience to cooperate. The alliance they form is fragile, strained by secrets and by their own youth. The book mixes action and high politics with a wide view of the world's geography and history, and it sets the pieces for a larger conflict between the alliance and the mages of Norsunder. It is set about eight centuries after the Inda books.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
