Synopsis

A Wizard of Mars, ninth novel in the Young Wizards series, begins with Kit growing increasingly preoccupied with Mars and eventually becoming trapped within an ancient version of the planet, bound to the consciousness of a Martian wizard named Khretef. Meanwhile Nita, accompanied by the whale-wizard S'reee and Kit's sister Carmela, travels to Mars herself, where Carmela uncovers an ancient prophecy known as the Red Rede that appears to bear directly on the unfolding crisis. As Nita and her companions work to interpret the prophecy's cryptic warnings, they find themselves drawn deeper into the history and politics of an ancient Martian civilization, whose surviving inhabitants have their own plans for the future of their world.
