Synopsis
A World Without Heroes, the first book in the Beyonders trilogy, opens with thirteen-year-old Jason Walker being pulled through a strange portal at a zoo and transported to Lyrian, a medieval world ruled by the tyrannical wizard-emperor Maldor. Stranded and alone, Jason discovers a mysterious book that reveals the existence of a secret word of power made up of six syllables, said to be able to destroy Maldor if spoken directly in his presence. He joins forces with Rachel, a girl from Earth who was drawn into Lyrian before him, along with Galloran, a broken former hero who once attempted the same mission and failed, and other allies met along the way. Together they set out across Lyrian to locate the scattered syllables of the word, evading Maldor's spies and agents as they go, in hopes of finally ending his rule.
