Synopsis
Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear continues the Wayward Children series, following its established pattern of exploring the aftermath and ongoing consequences for students of Eleanor West's Home for Wayward Children as they navigate both their lingering ties to the magical worlds that shaped them and their uneasy place back in the ordinary world. As with earlier volumes, the novella follows a student grappling with the particular rules and losses of the world they once called home, continuing the series' broader exploration of what it costs a person to belong fully to neither the world they came from nor the one they were sent back to.

Notes
- From the series record (Wayward Children): Core Canon = all 11 published novellas (Tor.com/Tordotcom, 2016-2026), per the collection/short-form-as-Core precedent (this series' primary reading unit has always been the novella, not the novel). Book 12, "A Song of Sugar Sparrows" (planned January 2027), is announced but unpublished as of 2026-08-11 -- isn't counted here yet; watch for its publication.
