Synopsis
Mislaid in Parts Half-Known follows Antsy, a nine-year-old girl who now appears to be sixteen as a result of her time in the Shop Where the Lost Things Go, as she arrives at Eleanor West's Home for Wayward Children carrying a newfound gift for locating anything that has gone missing. When a classmate attempts to exploit that ability for personal gain, Antsy and her friends flee through a magical door back into the Shop, setting off an unplanned journey that carries them through several different fantastical worlds as they search for a way home. The novella continues Antsy's story from Lost in the Moment and Found, following the consequences of the strange power she carries with her between worlds.

- From the series record (Wayward Children): Core Canon = all 11 published novellas (Tor.com/Tordotcom, 2016-2026), per the collection/short-form-as-Core precedent (this series' primary reading unit has always been the novella, not the novel). Book 12, "A Song of Sugar Sparrows" (planned January 2027), is announced but unpublished as of 2026-08-11 -- isn't counted here yet; watch for its publication.
