Synopsis
In the ninth Peter Grant novel, Peter and the Special Assessment Unit investigate a strange death at the London Silver Vaults, described as the largest collection of silver for sale in the world, after a victim vanishes without a trace amid reports of a blinding flash of light and unexplained memory loss among witnesses. Working under DCI Thomas Nightingale, the team follows a trail that draws together threads of London's long history with unexpected international connections, complicating what first looks like a straightforward supernatural crime. The case takes on added personal weight for Peter as his partner Beverley Brook awaits the birth of their twins at home, even as the investigation confronts him with something he had not anticipated at all.
