Synopsis

Secret Agent Nola O'Grady has enough trouble on her hands when a were-leopard accuses her of receiving stolen property, but things get worse fast. The Apocalypse Squad, the Chaos cult whose name is a joke until it is not, is on the move, and the threads lead through San Francisco's secret places toward Nola's family: her brother Michael's forays into other world-levels, her sister's marriage, the unexplained disappearance of her father years before. Ari Nathan, meanwhile, is pulled toward new loyalties by the Israeli service that has never let him go, and the demands of his masters may jeopardise everything he and Nola have built. The third novel sends the two of them into a city of secrets, where the worst secret of all lurks at the heart of the one thing Nola loves more than Ari: her family.

Notes

  • From the series record (Nola O'Grady): Katharine Kerr's urban fantasy of psychic agent Nola O'Grady of the Agency, an organisation so secret even the CIA does not know it exists, and her Israeli partner Ari Nathan, keeping the balance between Chaos and Order in a San Francisco full of werewolves, alternate dimensions and Nola's own unmanageable family. Four novels (DAW, 2011-2012); the publisher declined further volumes.
