Synopsis
Elena Deveraux and the archangel Raphael return to New York and find the city under a new kind of threat. A vampire attacks a girls' school in a senseless, brutal frenzy, and more vampires then succumb to uncontrollable bloodlust. Raphael begins to show an unexplained anger of his own, and storms and tremors shake the city, as if the land itself is disturbed. The signs point to Caliane, an ancient and malevolent immortal who is rising to reclaim her son, Raphael. In her eyes Elena, his consort, is an obstacle to be removed. Elena must find out what is driving the violence while preparing to stand against a being far older and stronger than any angel she has faced, with the city and Raphael's court at stake.
