Synopsis
Elena Deveraux, once a vampire hunter, wakes from a year-long coma changed into an angel, with wings the colors of midnight and dawn. Her new body is still too fragile for flight and needs time to heal. Her lover, the archangel Raphael, is used to total control, especially over the woman he regards as his, while Elena has never been good at taking orders. As the two start to learn each other again, Raphael receives an invitation to a ball hosted by the archangel Lijuan in Beijing. Declining would signal weakness, so he must prepare Elena to make the journey. Lijuan's power comes from the dead, and she has planned a harsh welcome for the newly made angel. Raphael's circle, the Seven, also takes on larger roles.
